Tenacious Leaves

Wind 
Pushing the rain 
Stripping trees 
Yet a few 
Tenacious leaves
Remain

with winter nearing 
trees are now barren of leaves 
under the cold rain

ah, within this rain
gently drifting down my roof 
this night's lullaby

lying awake 
morning darkness 
and memories

as I look closely 
during this pause in the rain
gemstones on the leaves

cold autumnal rain
moments of tranquility
as I sip my tea

trees gently moving
and sun high above the clouds
cold day without rain

the night's growth
expanding throughout the trees
into my dreams

a cup of tea
a quiet afternoon
autumnal darkness

after the rainfall
sun remains above the clouds
