Tonight’s haiku: August 4, 2026

as the smoke descends 
wafting across the region
no night time relief

within the darkness
sunlight’s echoes remaining
the dreams won’t forget

ah, a chance of rain!
onto this parched neighborhood
blessed potential

in the summer heat
a rabbit lays in the shade 
lazily eating

monetization
a feeling of emptiness
within what I love

the birds now silent
and darkness flows through the trees
tranquility’s charm

sun drifts through clouds 
rain gently makes it's way down 
as night slowly falls

all eyes on their phones
an osprey catches a fish
only I notice

two people clapping
quirky, stuttering rythmn
a small cloud of gnats

on the edge of dreams 
the windchimes' lullaby 
luring me closer
