This day of resting
Rejuvenating our beings
Again preparing
Author: Carl Setzer
Saturday Calls
Outside beckoning
Summoning us towards action
Joyous rigors: life
And now Friday
As our labors slack
Passions which enrich our lives
Finally given air
Thursday
Thursday, Friday-eve
I can feel the weekend’s breath
So close, yet not yet.
Crafting Misery
Joyously brutal
Sinister satisfaction
Crushing all delight
Wednesday Rains
Listen to raindrops
Rattling rooftops gently
Soon forging rivers
Forgotten Tomorrow
Into the edgeÂ
Of the forgotten tomorrow.Â
Faster than the
Flights of dreams.
Come my heart.Â
More powerful than
This vacant, dustyÂ
Fantasy. Enrichment
Filled senses
Collapse into
Mindlessness.
Tuesday
This week continues
Finish yesterday’s missed stuff.
Little creation.
Monday
Now begins this week
Laden with much potential
Awaiting the seizing
World Poetry Day
As today is World Poetry Day, I offer up this contribution:
Shall we celebrate power?
Speaking conscience to the brutal.
When nothing else can resist.
Words sharper than swords?
Or those words capturing love?
That exquisite, maddening
Sensation. Delightful, painful,
No greater sorrow, or pleasure.
Poetry, indefinable, glorious
Mystery. Savor this moment
For soon we shall recommence
Our most divine torment.
