An early morning haiku, March 12, 2026

kindness's beauty
gracefully upon petals
amidst the dew drops

living in this world
of malice and cruelty
let's magnify grace

awaiting sunlight 
car engines join their choir 
the motion of life

waiting for dawn
eastern hills remain dark 
rattling raindrops

a day of rainfall 
with mists moving through the firs
speaking to my soul

through the coldest rain
while the bitter wind bites hard
with the sun fading

as gentle mists fall
streetlights flicker through the dreams 
the song of the night

walking through these streets
under flickering streetlights
watching shadows play

as the daylight fades
the mountains burst with color
and birds seek their rest

with the night falling
the air drifts below freezing
the day drifts westward
