An Afternoon Pause

an afternoon pause
in sunlight along the shore
the joy of flowers

reddening leaves
boldly green just yesterday 
crisp, cold air arrives

yet another walk
underneath the autumn clouds
soon birds quiet

sunlight and the clouds
graceful movement through the sky
autumnal graces

moving through the day
sunlight flows upon my life 
embracing its grace

sunlight has faded
roses bloom in the darkness 
remnants of summer

summer visages 
with autumn approaching 
soon the seasons change

gazing to the west
sunlight dives into the sea
awaiting moon's rise

descending dusk
night's darkness hiding beauty 
the birds go silent

the descending sun
fading into the tree limbs
and night arises
