Progressing forwards

Today’s anger spent
I seek to make things better
Progressing forwards.

Cold wetness seeps in.
Clothing’s heaviness intense.
Seattle’s winter.

Perhaps healing’s not
Returning to the old life
Rather, a new one

Oh, smartassery,
Free of all cynicism.
A good goal, perhaps?

In the night’s darkness
Sometimes I find strange comfort
Peace through self knowledge.

Within deception
Perhaps lies a deeper truth,
Hidden in plain site.

Within deception,
Lies, deeply, underlying truth,
Powerful learning.

Gluttony aside,
Appreciation abounds.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Glancing upwards now,
A graying sky calming me.
Rain speckles my lens.

Icicle air clings
Upon my extra clothing.
Wondrous clarity.
