Today’s haiku

just a few dark clouds 
a rain squall abruptly forms
soon the sun returns

darkness descending
covering faded blossoms 
so ephemeral

a moment of rain
then the sun bursts forth
what does the future hold?

wonders of springtime
flowers within the sunlight
birdsong fills the air

with hints of purple
flowers changing through the spring
new wonders each day

cherry blossoms fall 

as spring's skies begin to warm

free of all our fears

sunlight descending 
brightening western mountains 
quiet witnesses

another spring day 
cherry blossoms scattering
fading memories

sleep’s evasive
the early morning darkness
hiding raindrops

Yeah, I should be asleep,

I’d prefer to be asleep

Yet that is not

My reality.
