Struggling with the past

Finding myself trapped
The past remains within
Hindering progress

Woke from a nightmare
Dreams of death and resistance
To birdsong outside

I find it painful
At the end of busyness
Nothing accomplished

Uninspiration
Dryness of my soul
Seeps downwards
Deep within, then
Gently tapping upon
My roof, winter rain.
Roots healed and
Life returns.

It is not yet dawn
Life begins manic stirrings
Night’s calm succumbing

Distraction, empty;
“Now”, the moment powerful.
Rain flows from branches

False power calling
The allure of fear and rage.
Hope always triumphs.

The sun collapses
Into itself, within dreams
Hope’s power calming

Lost within ego
Raging thoughtlessly again
Painful to my heart

Paralyzed by rage
Blame is easier than work
Yet non-productive
