Seattle Memories: A Saturday Morning

Dark morning skies

Coffee shops and newspapers

Tranquil memories
Echoes of my history in this morning’s air, remembering my times in Seattle as a young man.

Seattle Memories

โ€‹Calming coolness upon me

Memories of walking, early morning, Seattle

Along the peak of Capitol Hill

Downwards through the city

Before urban life starts

Before thousands of coffee cups

Deliver their payloads

Of productivity

Thunder in the Morning : A Haiku

rolling with the rain

there’s thunder in Seattle

the crows now silent

I wasn’t expecting thunder and lightening this morning. That’s rather atypical for Seattle. It brings back many memories for me, though. Life in the tropics had many joys.

Brunch in #Edmonds

A light mist outside

Delightfully warm within

My grandfather’s voice

My grandparents started coming to Edmonds’ Pancake Haus when it opened, and remained faithful customers til the end. My wife and I go somewhat regularly, enough that the staff recognize our son and ask about him. This connection brings me joy.

Do have any place with similar connections?

Winter in Seattle: A Haiku

longing for sunlight

amid the dampness and cold

childhood memories

My childhood had some glorious moments in the tropics, when I lived in the Philippines. Dark, dreary drippy days sometimes bring forth a longing for those days.

Haiku, January 8, 2020

barren branches move

wind, graceful power’s song

I still hear your voice
