A pause in the rain

the grace of sunlight
with the clouds moving southwards
this pause in the rain

mix of snow and rain
briefly coating the earth
blossoms unperturbed

my gutters sing 
within the tranquil rain 
lulling me to sleep

through rain, snow and hail
when the sky erupts in blue 
tranquility's joy

under the raindrops 
falling upon the petals 
spring arrives anew

within the spring rain
sunlight still feeding new life 
dancing in this breeze

sunlight has faded
streetlights shimmer in puddles
watching the cars pass

dancing in the grass 
juncos feeding in the rain
what do they ponder?

this cold afternoon 
sunlight flowing through the trees 
winter's mists absent

this break in the rain 
raindrops bead upon petals 
winter arrives soon
