Tonight’s Haiku

with dusk descending 
and gently fading sunlight 
flowers get their fill

sunlight has faded
roses bloom in the darkness 
remnants of summer

within the sunlight
graced by cooler air
a gentler mood

roses in the rain 
lives lived underneath grey skies 
between sunny days

graced by sunlight
beauty reaching skywards
as petals drift downwards

summertime's motion
as petals grow and then fade 
the grace of sunlight

the joy of a rose
beside the white, picket fence 
greeting summertime

near the trees rose
from underneath the past rain
a new day is born

raindrops on roses
jewels glisten upon petals
after autumn rains
