A Summer Rose

within the sunlight
graced by cooler air
a gentler mood

summer's moving
across the sunlit sky
blessings of flowers

gigantic lilies 
at the edge of the sidewalk 
bathing in sunlight

upon these petals
this bee feasts upon nectar 
then, on to the next

within the sunlight
moving in the summer breeze 
the scent of salt air

walking near the shore
with sunlight guiding my steps
these moments of grace

roses in the rain 
lives lived underneath grey skies 
between sunny days

moments of summer 
petals briefly in the sun 
then fading earthwards

birds dancing upon the wind
elevate spirits
