Late Night HaikuĀ

I sit in the dark

Calmness refueling my soul

The song of starlight

I woke in the middle of the night and wrote this. Seemed rather perfect when I read it this morning. Still, I’d rather sleep through the night right now.

Morning Sunlight

Morning sunlight

Under the cool autumn breeze

I resist waking

A lovely autumn morning in Seattle. Blue skies, mostly white clouds, though there are a few darker ones. The demands of my day finally rouse me. My tea welcomes me back to life.

Today’s Word of the Day Challenge: Wave, a Haiku

the ocean’s motion
waves moving across the earth
continuously

Here is my contribution to the Word of the Day Challenge. Today’s word is “wave”. Having spent so much of my life near the ocean, this is the first place my mind went. I did think a bit about writing about physics, but, well, I decided oceans were more lovely.

Signs of Autumn in Seattle

Weeds vs Wildflowers

Weeds vs Wildflowers

my mind wondering
why are dandelions weeds
not wildflowers?

As a boy, I loved dandelions. As an adult, I wonder why they’re so maligned. What do you think?
