under the starlight
a momentary pause
the city grinds on
Nights in the city have a magic to them, don’t they?
poetry, prose, and photography
I adore the simplicity, as well as the challenge of Haiku. The constraints focus my mind, seeking out the essence of the moment, feeling, notion, distilling it to brilliant singularity.
My goal: to post at least one haiku a day.

under the starlight
a momentary pause
the city grinds on
Nights in the city have a magic to them, don’t they?

through fading sunlight
walk along the waterfront
filled with memories
Most of my life orbited the Edmonds waterfront, just north of Seattle. My grandparents lived here. So many memories of walking with my grandfather here, sometimes riding the ferry. He loved talking with everyone, hearing their stories. His gift of listening appreciated.

Yesterday’s moonlight
Interwoven amidst dreams
Drifting through my mind

a pause in the rain
signs of winter around me
motion of my feet

under damp branches
swaying underneath the breeze
stump returns to earth
