Brutality’s Dream

The world existing
Entrenched brutality deep
Sunlight clears the fog

Fear motivates,
Drives us mad,
Greed, envy, despair:
And we know not how to resist.

Cold sunlight flowing
Burning deeply to my core
Freeing from despair

Darkness hints at cold
Wintertime’s whispered approach
Dew drops now frozen

Living is movement,
An obscured destination
Lights within darkness

Cynicism’s dead
Devoid of joyous dreaming
Vanishes like mist

One cannot exist
Upon the empty promise
Of cynicism

Commit to your dreams
Seek to obey the dreamer
Passion carries you.

I sit upon the edge
Staring intently inward
Flee from perfection

Autumn rains have come
Mists flowing through firs and cedar
Moisture in motion
