as the snow lingers

as the snow lingers
sunlight hides behind the firs
and western mountains

sunset fades away
quiet befalls snowy trees
quite soon dawn arrives

dawn strikes morning snow
winds dance in the frigid air
crows call each other

cold morning air
winter’s graceful touch
upon my sweater

It’s been a rough week. I’m fighting done virus, probably RSV (definitely NOT covid… three tests…THREE! All negative).

Anyway, I’m feeling quite a bit better today. My voice still sounds like Louis Armstrong, and I’m coughing a fair amount, but I have energy!

rainy, misty morn
dawn's light muted by the clouds
time to brew some tea

under the sunlight 
wheels turning over miles
moving through cold air

as the sun descends
the firey glow through the trees
warming my soul's depths

cold wintery air 
walking over sunlit sand 
freedom from the wind

within the cold air
and sunlight gracing  my skin
oh, the memories!

just a few doors down 
ambulance's flashing lights 
early morning prayers
