Meditation on Greatness

One cannot achieve greatness
Adhering to the status quo.
Mediocrity, numbing the
Quiet desperation, drifting
Through life barely creates
Fertilizer for poppies.

Carpe diem

For some, “seizing the moment”
Involves a death grip.
Hold that moment forever
Or until it’s torn from our
Grasping, finite fingers.

I seek, simply, to be fully in
Each moment. To savor each
Second dearly. Taste each piece
And fully know it, before it
Collapses into the vaporous
Collective of memory.

Modern Life

Tunneling in to this thing called life.
Puzzling singularly of activity and focus.
Dreams fade as fast as old friends.
Birthing the regrets of calm reflection.
