Crushing joy killers
Destroying what’s beautiful
Lurking deep within
Light has faded now
Vision obscured through darkness
Spring’s blossoms hidden
I’m sitting, monk – like
Reading poets long silent
Chainsaw now raging
Love is everything
Unconditional, power
All else is empty

Quietude dominates.Â
Bushes outside
This window, soon
Bursting with the
Songs from vigorous
Birds. Oblivious
To their beauty.
They hear stories
Loneliness, violence,
Domination, love and death.
Songs that change daily
Yet remain constant.
Quietude vanishes into life.Â
We’ve reached the middle
Two days before, then after
Apex of the hump
Record setting heat
Seatlelites’ discomfort
Easily reached
Darkness consuming
The day’s remnants fade to dust
Monday approaches
In silence I sit
With the stillest air I’ve known
