Snow isn’t quite a joyous a thing as an adult as I found it as a child. Yet the echoes remain.
This is my contribution to today’s Word of the Day challenge, with today’s word “cheery”. I took a little liberty with “cheery”. I hope it cheers you, at least.

Seattle winters
As a live-long Seattleite, I hold a certain fondness for rain. One tempered with topical annoyance, and occasional despair. Yet, for the most part, I enjoy rain. The sound upon my roof. Watching the rain from a street-side café, listening to jazz. So much of my life revolves around liquid precipitation.

memories
a break in the day
with rain no longer falling
I fit in a walk
blue sky peeking through
in the light of dawn
this bitter bite of winter
balancing with grace
The winter air has a substantive bite. Our weather reports hinted at snow, January marching into February. Yet, even in this time of cold, of darkness, flowers grace life with reminders that spring approaches.
calming sunlight
graceful arc through the trees
hope arrives before spring
upon this roadside
while walking in the sunlight
the motion of life
under the starlight
a momentary pause
the city grinds on
Nights in the city have a magic to them, don’t they?

I head outside to walk
