I want my home
To be worthy of flowers
Bedecked with candles
And the fragrances
Of breads, sweets
And teas, swirled into
A wondrous blend
Of my heart’s delights
poetry, prose, and photography
I want my home
To be worthy of flowers
Bedecked with candles
And the fragrances
Of breads, sweets
And teas, swirled into
A wondrous blend
Of my heart’s delights
At first, resistance
Everyone I knew
Adores all those tunes
Which , in my mind
Trite, vacant, and “No”
Glad to say that’s wrong
Gritty dissonance
Akin to Dylan
The honest seeking
Within his lyrics
Brought out the sunlight
In this darkened world
Filled with painful news
Death, destruction and much pain
Manifest sorrow
As a youth
Athletic meant “jock”
Of which I did not align
Now things change
And I find myself
Within that fold
Strange changes
Of life
As I get older
Athletic has new meaning
It applies to me

Compline sung again
Mark another year of life
I am richly blessed
This dream of my youth
Needing to be loved widely
This thing: “Popular“
Darkness settled well
All my neighbors are silent
Not many leaves fell
