As Autumn Nears, I Remember Spring

Memories of spring
Rain rippling in puddles
Thinking of sweaters

Today filled with rain, cleansing Seattle’s air of the lingering smoke. Very, very welcome indeed.

Just a few days until autumn. Though I look forward to sweater weather, I dread the greater resistance to spending time outside. Something to overcome.

Praying for Rain

smoke lingers

hiding the sunlight

praying for rain

The air quality in Seattle is supposed to improve dramatically over the next day. And rain is in the forecast both today and tomorrow. Relief approaches!

Scent of Old Books

scent of old books
espresso machine’s song
hints of jazz piano

Thinking of Beat poets while listening to jazz this hazy, smokey Seattle morning.

Seattle Smoke

With my eyes stinging
And the sun hidden by smoke
I’m praying for rain

The smoke of the west coast is getting tiresome. Now, Seattle is much better off than many parts of the region, so I really can’t complain too much.

We are expecting the air quality to improve over the next few days, which I welcome greatly. I’m really looking forward to unimpeded breathing.

Early Morning Haze

Early morning haze

Sunlight hampered by the smoke

Disrupting autumn

Another smoky, hazy day here in Seattle. The air quality is expected to be slightly better than yesterday. It should continue to get better as the week progresses. I look forward to breathable air.

The bees keep working

Honey bees at work

Through the intense sun

And air choked with smoke moving

The bees keep working

The air in the greater Seattle has been filled with the smoke of many fires. Carried by the wind miles, a gift to be choked, I guess. The bees seem unperturbed.
