Today’s Haiku

the rain grows warmer
slowly the plants awaken
the season's motion

I saw this little blossom on my walk today. Right before the rains started. It’s was cold,  then damp. But I was equipped,  so it was pleasant. Not a bad way to surrender a Sunday afternoon.

Word of the Day Challenge: Abandoned

troubling my mind
why was this place abandoned?
these lives forgotten

Today’s Word of the Day Challenge features the word “abandoned”, which reminded me of all the houses I’ve seen, empty, decaying. I wonder about the lives that were there before. I wonder about what caused these places to be left behind. What joys, sadnesses and pain have faded into oblivion?

Today’s Black History Month Meditation: Saeed Jones

Mr. Jones launched into my view via Debbie Millman’s Design Matters podcast. His charm and ebullient manner shined brightly.

I find Saeed Jones’ work evocative and insightful. His meter and flow challenge me and my own work. I hope you find his work delightful too.
