Escape

Let go of anger
Escape pride and envy’s grasp
Such is peace’s path

Upon life’s edges
Evading mundanity.
Lovely uniqueness

On a zendo floor
Awoken by gentle chime
Tranquility hums

This is puzzling:
Why it is humanity
That’s most inhuman?

Thunder’s false calling
Empty promise of rainfall
Deception’s sad rage

Fearful of ancient rage
Rattling dusty cadavers
Forgotten dreams
Hidden within
Away from the glare
Of expectation

The air caresses
Gently through my hair, my skin;
A life, wild, free

Sky, absent the sun
The stars are comforting me
Familiar friends

Forcing upon skin
The beauty of cloud-free skies
Sometimes there is fire

Where can we go now?
Once the dreams are accomplished
Yet there’s much more life
