Crane Fly’s Motion

a crane fly’s motion

under the bathroom lights

returned to freedom

Today’s Haiku: February 28, 2020

sparrow’s motion
light, agile upon sunbeams
mountains snore

Cloud Covered Mountains

clouds grasping stones

visages hidden with grace

the movement of light

December 4, 2019

an evening with friends
fills me with the greatest joy
crows upon the breeze

Ah, poets and their ponds, this morning’s #haiku

Basho and Thoreau

Sit silently by their ponds

Beautiful stillness

Ah, poets and their ponds

April 23, 2019: A #Haiku

The cricket sings

Biology’s siren song

Silenced by the dawn

Waking in Kona, the surf singing to me

My mind playing Iz*

A song I know

But whose name

Escapes me

Gentle and peaceful

Bringing me rest

And contentment

*If you aren’t familiar with the musician Iz, he was Israel KaÊ»anoÊ»i KamakawiwoÊ»ole. Learn more about him here. He’s long been high in my list of favorite musicians.

An Early Morning Haiku

Yes, I am awake

And the birds sing with vigor

Dawn has not yet come

I’m amazed at the number of birds singing right now. Well, I think one of the loudest sounds is an insect, but I digress.  It’s quite boisterous. Oddly, as daylight comes their sounds will quiet. Perhaps just supplanted by human noise. Perhaps.
