Sunday Night Haiku

poetry, prose, and photography

Light across the sky
Beauty of Seattle’s sky
Patience of flowers

the motion of night
street lights hidden by the fog
birds are now asleep

southern wind challenges
trees bending with the waves
seagulls’ airborne dance

gentle touch of keys
movement of notes through the air
echoes of children
Today we journeyed down into Seattle’s University district. We ducked into the University Heights Community Center, which, decades ago was the elementary school my father and several of my uncles attended. I considered the thousands of children who passed through, their hopes, dreams and heartaches. Thus I connected to my history.

The sky to the west
The rain, yet again, has passed
Crows follow a hawk

attempting movement
I’m mostly stationary
solace through singing

The sun’s above clouds
Droplets’ vigorous descent
Crows raucously call
rain upon my roof
gentlest of rattles
pre-dawn darkness
