I’m Seattle area writer and blogger Carl Setzer. Writing is my passion and the core of my being. It’s manifested in many ways in my life.
I’m a geek of many stripes, so my writing covers many topics, but a key theme: living life with a long-term vision, always seeking continuous growth, ensuring each day enriches my mind, body and soul; and positively impacting my family, friends and community.
My career covers several key Seattle area institutions including:
- Starbucks
- Microsoft
- Amazon
Other lower profile businesses I’ve worked at:
- AARP
- Christ Episcopal Church
At Starbucks my work encompassed project and team coordination within Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Affairs/Global Communications. Additional work in Public Affairs and Advocacy with AARP, and initiatives with global trade and world wide finance at Microsoft round out a deep understanding of today’s business climate. Additionally, I’ve managed operations for businesses and nonprofits at many different scales.
I understand general business principles, technological solutions, internet and social media marketing. Building websites (with a particular love for WordPress), myriad PowerPoints, intricate Excel spreadsheets, tracking million dollar + budgets, deploying technological solutions such as Google Apps and Microsoft Office Web Apps solutions (Office 365’s predecessor) , written press releases, edited and managed newsletters; understanding the elements of long-term, sustainable strategies.
Focusing on “getting things done”, while keeping an eye on the future, I seek solutions that make positive change, that grow and develop with a focus, direction and vision.
