Dawn’s light shining west
As it crests the eastern hills day
Feeling winter’s chill
I love dawn. I always feel deep potential. The possibilities feel endless.
poetry, prose, and photography
Looking to the west
Lights flicker in the darkness
City filled with stars
So, why am I here?
Such a powerful question
This path to greatness
I want to grow, to become more, do important things, make a positive impact upon this place I love. That is what I mean by “greatness” . But that’s only a part. How I need to define my goal.
As Thich Naht Hahn said, “The path is the goal”. It’s a fluid, moving target, evolving as my soul grows. I find this beautiful.

A haiku at the end of this busy day. Family after church, this period where birthdays intersect with major holidays.
Now in night’s darkness
The air has become silent
Peacefulness reclaimed
It’s now calm as the wrong storm has passed through Seattle. Hope all you Seattle area folks got through relatively unscathed. Sure seems a bit of a mess right now.
Fears can speak loudly
We must learn to not let them
Paralyze our will

Keys pressed in the night
Joyful sounds enchanting me
As a cold wind moves

Still upon the tree
A feast for the passing birds
Nearing autumn’s end
I found the apples on these neglected trees to be haunting, ghost like. Sustaining the birds as the weather turns cruel.

Along the river
My feet move through the sunlight
Serenity speaks
