My Grandmother’s Voice

clouds across the sky

dancing upon mountain tops

my grandmother’s voice

Enriching my life

A Trip To Whidbey Island: A Haiku

A morning journey

Off to the nearby island

With people I love

Spent the morning over in Whidbey Island watching a cross country regional competition. I’ve known many of these kids their whole lives, so there a certain poignancy.

To live where my grandparents lived

I live amongst ghosts
My grandparent’s memories
Amidst these very trees

I walk the same streets my grandparents did. It fills me with connection to this place. Time become more fluid.

Grandmother

I’m nearby
This place she lived
LIVED!
So very long ago

In this early morn
With wind moving
Trees
Her voice whispers
Love songs to this
Child

This Painful Evening

Over fifty-years

Living on this

Spinning rock

Yet moments come

When, still,

That powerless

Little boy

Rises

Alone

An evening with friends

Spent the evening with friends enjoying Mountlake Terrace’s Tour de Terrace parade. A lovely evening with friends I’ve know for a while and some I just met tonight. What a wonderful way to spend time.

Fathers Day

Fatherhood’s delights

Youth doing amazing things

Such satisfaction

My Son’s Path Diverged From Mine

 My son’s path diverged

Both sadness at these changes

And proud contentment
