Mountains to the east
Lightly powdered with new snow
Winter approaching
poetry, prose, and photography
No wind, pre-sunrise,
Tranquility descending.
Winter, free of snow.
Blossoms bursting forth
Another awakening
The sleepers awake
Clouds eating sunlight
Gray brightening in the morn
Life passing quickly
Cold wetness seeps in.
Clothing’s heaviness intense.
Seattle’s winter.
Winter’s icy breath
Haunts my dreams.
Awoke, strange chill
Lingering upon my cheek
Arms, sheets, caressing
Silently, presence insisting
Upon awareness.
Icicle air clings
Upon my extra clothing.
Wondrous clarity.
Winter claws forwards
Gentleness of Autumn gone
Sharp teeth are now bared
Air flows calmly down.
Teeth of winter’s brutal bite
Tranquil snows falling.
